Well lets give Banksy his due, using stencils for graphiti is pretty clever but it certainly does put him at the lower end of the artistic scale. From a functional perspective his work acheives a lot for a minimum of risk, he’s not concentrating on swirls and palettes and getting his sig just right. As far as political/social commentary goes though he seems to want to poke at the establishment from the comfort of his armchair.
Totally saw Alphabet of Brooke Shields in Finsbury Park six months ago though, this thing is slowly spreading.
Well firstly “What the frig is the alphabet of Booke Shields”.
I don’t think Banksy ever tried to come across as Da Vinci on the artistic scale, but I think what he does is quite clever, and is effective. It gets talked about and that’s more than most stuff.
Personally I think his art is quite good. But then I struggle with stick figures.
