24” + 15.4” is two separate monitors, that is, a 24 inch monitor and a 15.4 inch monitor, which does not, in any way, equal 39.4 inches, except in “Sevitzland”.
Monitor size is measured diagonally (as you know), so if you had the MBP in the bottom corner of the Dell monitor, you would have a 39.4” diagonal, but that still wouldn’t be 39.4 inches of screen real estate.
For poetic license though, I suppose I’ll let you away with it.

Dude, if that MBP is 15.4 inches, then there’s no way that monitor is 39.4 inches. No way in hell.
2. Adrian
Dude, 24” + 15.4” is what exactly?

My blog, my rules.
And my digital pixelness goodlyness rules.
If you want to be a pedant I have (1920x1200) + (1440x900)’s worth of pixels.
5. Matt
Wow, that’s like, millions of pixels.
Incidentally, I reckon the dude sitting opposite you has too many monitors.

My, it’s enormous!
