In brief, starting yesterday,

  • My laptop hard drive died
  • I managed to back up my data and do a parallel install, but nothing is set up at the moment
  • Dell is short of stock so I wont get one till Tuesday at the earliest, which is really fucking annoying as I don't have a working laptop for the weekend
  • And I can't spend the weekend setting up the new hard drive cause I won't have it, nor can I spend next week configuring the drive as work is shit.
  • Work is shit cause the client put the project I am on 'on hold' and hence everything is a mad panic here trying to recover some work
  • Now we are doing 6 weeks worth of work in 3 weeks..
  • I am fucked off with life in general.
  • Haven't heard from Vicky yet.
  • I need a drink

I have recurring theme dreams. Not recurring dreams, but dreams of the same genre/theme which recur regularly. One of these themes is I am being chased. Normally its by some really bad guys (like the mafia) who I have crossed when I was 'working for them' or something. Normally I am a good bad guy. Like in the movies, the bad guy who is really a good guy kind of thing. Last night just before I woke up, I was dreaming that I was being chased by robots (yeah big square ugly ones) wearing sneakers (who knows). Anyway I ended up defending myself with a red laser that I focused on its feet and melted its sneakers and metal feet to the floor. All I bit odd. I think I am weird.

Well got in this morning after shitty traffic jams and had an email from Vicky waiting

"Good morning. Just wanted to say thanx for yesterday, hope u got the train ok, I had a really nice time - although the company could have been better! only joking, the company was great.... beats sitting on your own anyway!! hope to see u again soon" - Vicky

So I guess that’s good. :-) . Although don't know about beats sitting on your own. Not quite sure how to take that. Grin. Am sure its tongue in cheek.

So that’s good. The funny thing is I was going to send her a similar mail, but thought I better wait till Tuesday (the English have this funny, thing about appearing too desperate if you phone or mail too early (the Saffers don't). Ok best I go reply now.

Well about to go to bed. Before 1am which is pretty good too. Had a good dinner (Macaroni cheese) and watched friends and ER which was good (some good old Comedy and Tragady). Now I am tired and about to go to bed. Ok ok, I will tell you about the date before I go.

Had a bath, got dressed. Big debate on what to wear (do I go trendy, do I go jeans and a T shirt. This is vastly complicated but I probably made a bigger deal than it warranted. Wore my nice blue soviet jeans and my 'Bad Ass Cafe' golf shirt from Dublin). Got all the train times right and left promptly on time. Then had to comeback to the flat to get my cell phone (very nb as if something went wrong with the plans, I would have no way of contacting her or being contacted). So now my perfect timing is blown and I have to run for the train. Which I do but the train is late. Then when it does arrive its on the wrong platform and I have to bolt for the right platform (along with everyone else). I get to Clapham Junction and head up Northcote road to a pub called 'The Holy Drinker' which was recommended to me by my mate Ben (I had actually been before but didn't know this till I got there.

So Vicky (that’s her name) is there waiting for me. Cause I was late. Cause the train was late. Which is annoying cause I had the timing planned right. But didn't seem to be a big deal. What was quite cool was that neither of us seemed to be uncomfrtable at all. Even thought we didn't really know each other. Although I did smoke a bit more than I normally do which would indicate some nervousness. Anyway we talked for about 3 hours or so which was really good. When I was dating Ella the biggest problem was that there was just no conversation. Conversation is a big important for me when dating someone. But went really well. Had a good time.

Quite a different girl to most girls I have met. Largely cause she isn't a consultant or in the corporate world. Which was quite interesting for me as you (meaning me) get quite used to being wrapped up in the normally consulting vibe and most of my friends work for consulting firms or banks or computer firms and you tend to forget the rest of the normal world isn't quite as secular. She is an English girl with quite a strong accent (of the nufing, bruver, innit variety) and has a similar physique to Leora a bit (only a bit) but a completely different face I think. She also has a nose ring (which looks good on her) and quite a few earrings (but not too many or enough to classify as too many) and a tattoo. Although I only she has a tatt since I saw it at the Tanya Donelly gig.

So date went well. I invited her back to Wandsworth for a bite to eat but she said she should get on home. She also said some other time would be good. And when she was leaving to get onto he train said that she had work off over Easter and we could get together then maybe. So all in all a nice time with a nice girl. So I feel quite good about myself.

On the other hand it wasn't a date. See my blog from earlier today. We don't date anymore. But it was a good date even if it wasn't a date.

Woke up this morning to a nice sunny day. Went down to the little high street in Wandsworth and got my hair cut. You know its been too long since your last hair cut when the hairdresser asks if you have been to hairdresser before or just barbers. My hair grows fast and wild and was looking awful so I can see how it could look this way. I also don't have any mirrors in the flat (yet) so my hair tends to look a mess at the moment.

I then went to do a bit of grocery shopping and had my car washed while I shopped. Everyone was really friendly today and the sun was shining (and now my car is shining too). I am now sitting watching the SA vs. OZ cricket ODI. Which Oz is/was winning and we have a slim chance of Lance Klusner (aka Zulu) pulling it out the bag. Good game to watch (well if we win that is). I just love my area and being in my flat.

Flower arranging tip of the day : Mixing white and yellow lilies doesn't work. The white ones droop long before the yellow ones and it looks odd. It is also possible I didn't water it enough. Keep watching for more great single mans guide to make the home not look completely like a lads pad tips.
