(said by other boy who is so very glad he doesn’t need to worry about this kind of thing anymore but remembers who awkward it was - my “tactic” was to wait for definite eye contact and a smile, then I’d ensure I bumped into them and blurt out something that I hoped wouldn’t be offensive and would resemble the English language, usually “Hi there, I’m Gordon”)

Which is why the boy blew it. Boy realises he is an idiot. Boy realises he’s destined to be single. Boys good at blowing things. Hmm that didn’t come out right. Neither did that.

Adrian … take my advice (which I rarely follow myself, by the way, but that’s not to say I don’t recognise it as good advice)and talk to them. They don’t bite. Sometimes they don’t have much upstairs but that’s not to say intelligent, sexy, and interesting birds don’t exist.

Or try internet dating - it cuts down on the whole awkwardness thing, because the other party is in the same position as you. Worked for me.

Boy is looking at this the whole wrong way. Consider what would have happened if boy HAD started talking to girl:
Boy and girl get along. Girl invites boy home. Boy & girl have amazing sex. Boy & girl embark on relationship. Boy falls in love with girl. Girl is lying, cheating psychopath who breaks boy’s heart and stomps on the pieces and then glues them together again just to enjoy dousing boy’s heart in gasoline and setting boy’s heart on fire. Girl laughs repeatedly.
So, you see, boy really did himself a favour by not talking to girl.
