I need a new scarf.

My old one is a plain thick quciksilver one and whilst quite warm I accept looks a bit dagy.

I need something that is smart and stylish and makes me look good.

Any recommendations?

Oh for goodness’ sake, man! Go into a clothes shop, look at scarves, pick out one you like! It’s not a bloody laptop computer that you’re trying to choose here.

“Yeah, I bought this scarf, but then within a week of taking it home, the end of it got scratched. I went on Google, and it turns out that lots of other people are having the same problem with this particular model of scarf. Really wish that I’d done the research beforehand now.”

Clearly you think I’m far more stylish than I really am.

If I was I would have a better scarf already.

(and scarf should be spelt scalf in my opinion)

Scarves should follow function first, and form second. Buy a warm scarf, if it looks good, bonus, if it doesn’t, well at least you’re warm.

Or, just wear the perfectly functional one you already have. Or, buy a Buff.

I just want to look a littler cooler but feel warmer.

I got Ian a nice green stripey scarf from H&M a few weeks back, try there? He may have worn it to movies with you last night.

I just got SA rugby scarves for Saturday, not quite ok for work though :)

Funny, that was what I was going to recommend - stripes. Pete-nu does have a point though, heh heh, and made me laugh. I could just see you doing that too.

Go to a shop that isn’t a sports or mountaineering shop but a clothes shop - you know, like the blokes’ section in Hennes or something like that (H&M to some) and look out for something that isn’t silk or paisley or have sad Christmas jumper patterns on it (I’ve been looking at the Topman website, those are definitely for people who are very confident of their coolness) and pick one that looks relatively normal and that, yes, you like. Stripes are cool. Actually, here you go - Marks and Spencers have some great ones.

Stripes seem in.

I think the M&S here is only food, but I’ll do a wander down this evening or to Regent Street or Oxford Street or somewhere.

Will try plot my path appropriately.

Thanks all.

Stopped by Ted Baker and bought one (and some gloves and funky socks (not pictured)).

See above.

Very nice - good decision making. See, you CAN do it (please tell me you didn’t/haven’t Googled Ted Baker for reliability/warmth…)

Seesh, where do I get this rep?

I just wanted some advice on what was stylish and in.

I haven’t googled anything. Even if I did, I’m pretty sure the information is not available. Plus I can feel the scarf and have a pretty good idea, it wont be bad.

I would have suggested in order to keep your neck warm you need to find a lady to wrap her legs around it… but hey you opted for a scarf :)

“…and makes me look good”.

It’s a scarf mate - not a miracle….

oh hoh hoh. Sorry - couldn’t resist. If I was buying a scarf, then that’s the sort of scarf that I would buy.
