So the day after the football injury (if you don't know about this, you either are living in a cave, or actually have a life) I mailed the office football DL, with some general banter about the injury, saying I was ok, and having a dig at Rich, the guy who's leg got in the way of my foot and the ground and caused the injury.
... I can honestly say going down and punching the ground in agony wasn’t diving. According to the doctor I haven’t broken anything, but have torn all the ligaments. In his professional opinion it’s just soft tissue damage and the swelling should go down in about 5 days. He also said it was entirely Richard's fault. These are the words of a qualified doctor, and I wouldn’t doubt his professional opinion. ...
To which Rich replied
I should point out five things:That is all
- I had the ball
- I had my back to Adrian
- I was running away from him
- He kicked me quite hard in the leg
- He cried like a little girl whose candyfloss has blown away

The back of Rich's leg has subsequently turned purple. The whole of his calf. Whilst he is actually still able to run without hopping, I do feel slightly guilty now, and probably will stop winding him up about the injury.
I'd also like to point out, that at no point did I actually cry.

I don’t believe you about the not actually crying.
See, this is why I don’t ‘do’ contact sports. If I hurt myself jumping off a cliff or climbing another, or whatever, it’s my fault. I don’t like walking around on crutches and being in agony and it all being someone else’s fault.
2. Gordon
I still say it was inconsiderate of Rich to have his leg in the road.
It’s the same as those people who complain when you stand on their feet.. well don’t put it under my foot then!!

I hate to say this, but you can be quite vicious/ competetive when playing footie in the park. I particularly remember one mixed game in Hyde Park one summer when you played in boots (most people were in flip flops or trainers) and were really going for it - treading on people, kicking (people and ball)……

I have to substitute keenness for talent. And I can’t play in flops it hurts my toeseys.

not broken?! gah!! ligament damage is much much worse than bone damage — bone damage heals fast and stronger than the original bone, but ligament damage takes AGES and needs real care to prevent becoming weaker.
ask your doctor about the potential benefit of hirudoid. and use lots of tiger balm (white — prime ingredient camphor) to reduce inflammation without burning or slowing healing (unlike corticosteroids). and RICE RICE RICE as often as you can

As I can’t comment on the thumb post, all I can say is that I hope the foot is getting better.

Commenting fixed. The foot is getting better but the ankle is still swollen and I can’t run on it properly. Still it’s turning back “non purple” coloured. Which is good.
