You have an actual answering machine? How very quaint.

Voice mail china, voice mail.

Sheesh what do you think I am?

I do actually have an answering machine. The message goes

Hi, this is Adrian. I do not check this machine, and I will not hear your message. If you want to get hold of me call me on my mobile @ ####

Strangely people, and especially the bank, leave very important messages that I get several weeks after it was really important I hear them.

My ansaphone used to have the message, ‘I’m screening my calls right now because I’m trying to avoid someone. If you leave a message, and I don’t get back to you, then it’s you’.

This was all very amusing in a self-important way until I actually forgot to return a call and it was taken seriously.

Have your parents forgiven you?

If you don’t check your answerphone for messages, why not disconnect it so that people don’t have the option of leaving any messages at all, important or not?

So that people calling my land line get given my mobile number and can call that instead.

Although considering this doesn’t work, you may have a point.
