I'm going to Ibiza on Sunday. With all my recent downs, this is just the holiday I need. A quite relaxing holiday. *Cough*

I'm a notorious over packer, so I offer you the chance now to get into my pants and help me decide what to pack.

Suggestions, advice and general banter welcome.

I have an idea, its a bit “radical”, but bear with me. Why don’t you try NOT to take your laptop, that way you can properly relax and not be able to check your work email, and therefore not stress out about it.

I know, I know, I’m being ridiculous even suggesting such a thing aren’t I?

I’m not taking my laptop.

I am however taking a spare laptop. Just to upload photos on from my camera that is. And also so I can send blog cards like I did when I was in the states.

Unless of course nobody wants to see blog cards …

Oh my goodness, how many of the damn things do you have?

OK, photos and blog cards, good. Stressing about work , bad.

Credit card and passport.

Leave everything else at home.

An umbrella. Kidding !

Leave the goddamn laptop at home, Adrian. Try to have just one holiday away from everything. Much as Ibiza is beautiful and most of us would love to see postcards from it, you could do with a complete break.

I need the laptop to offload pictures from the digital camera onto anyway. Since the blog cards are designed to take little effort from me, and it’s something I enjoy doing, the laptop becomes more useful thats all.

Take a hardback book, read it sideways and just pretend it’s a laptop.

jesus christ man - HAIR DRYER.

What the hell would I do with a hair dryer? I haven’t used a hair dryer for 10 years at least.

Surely the hotel would have one anyway, for example if I needed to dry water off a laptop or something?

Leave the ties at home…

One overly sunny day many summers ago, me, Jack and a friend of ours called Ayse were sat under a tree planning the minimum amount one could pack for Glastonbury (can easily be transfered to holiday destinations). After half an hour or so of rejecting items from the so called ‘Cosmopolitan Capsule Wardrobe For Travelling’ we got down to the following.

Contact lens fluid. Tissues. Condoms. Credit cards.

Simple - anything else you can buy.

Enjoy.

5HTP. Serotonin precursor. Available from Holland and Barrett. Think of it as an ‘Ibiza hangover cure’.

My instincts are that you will have thoroughly researched this, so to save me the bother for next time, are you going package holiday, flights&accom, or what?

Cheers, and enjoy.

Actually I did no reasearch, with my mate Craig doing all the hard work.

We’re going EasyJet from Stanstead (I hate Stanstead but I am the only South London boy) and staying at the Hotel Bellamar

Adrian needs to bring his laptop with him as we will be working on developing my WEB SITE!

Seriously - we’ll make sure Adrian will have an awesome time - despite his insistance that he doesn’t like holidays, I know just a front and I think Ibiza is the place to make it a front, back side and top !!!

You make sure that Jose the receptionist looks after you guys, otherwise I’ll get the Jose International Standards of Excellence (JISE, really wish I could have thought of something beginning with O) comittee onto him. Or her, but I suspect he’s a boy.

For those of you who have no idea what Jose is on about, I quote from the hotel’s reviews page

AWESOME!!!! Excellent value. Great food and outstanding front desk service. Anything we wanted to do, we just asked at the front desk and Lorena or Jose set us up …

Where about in Ibiza are you off to Adrian?

Is the hustle and bustle of San Antonio?

20 Aug, '04 5:43 PM

24. Adrian

Yep. I think the hotel is linked in comment 15 above.

Tickets, money, passport. Hat, shades, sunblock. Camera, condoms, comedy inflatable for the pool.

That should do it :)

Your are not too far from where I was staying in May.

I recommend you visit Donnegans one night. There is an Australian band called The Grail that plays tremendous Celtic music, every night at Donnegans. They get a tremendous atmosphere going and it makes for a superb night out, it’s usually packed.

If you walk further round the bay (away from the West End) for about five minutes, you should come across Donnegans. Not a bad pint of Guinness in there as well (and some tasty barmaids!).

Enjoy the break!
