Well I did put a £2 on Wonder Weasel. Wonder Weasel nearly got all the way around but pulled up at the 3rd last fence. I also had a tenner on Bear On Board who managed to come 8th.

I also had a twenty on a little horse called Amberleigh House.

Winning betting slip

The secret trick to winning is quite complicated. In the first race I picked a horse by name (King Solomon) and the horse came last. The winning horse was the third horse that Harry the Horse tipped. In the second race I backed the third horse that Harry tipped. It won. In the third race, I backed the second horse that Harry Tipped. It came fourth. The winner was once again the third horse harry tipped.

So then we get to the Gran National itself. The main event. The big cheese. The money race. By now I figured I was onto something. This Harry the Horse fella (or horse) new his horses. Harry's tips for the main event contained ten horses instead of the usual three. But one horse had pulled out so I was down to 9 horses. Amberleigh House was the first horse in the last third of Harry's tips. Things where looking good.

On my way home from work on Friday I had a read an amusing interview with Ginger McCain. Ginger's brash style and use of the word gobshite made me remember Amberleigh House. So I pretty much chosen the horse I would back.

The clincher though, the reason I threw a whole £20 on, the reason I knew the horse would win ...

Amberleigh House, was number 17 ... which is my favorite prime number.

I hear you all laughing at me, I have a word for you people laughing because I have a favorite prime number. That word is gobshite.

i’m pretty good at picking out winners, although it has nothing whatsoever to do with prime numbers.

the trouble is, i’m always so skint that i daren’t bet. i could have kicked myself when i picked the winner AND the runner-up once. grrrrrr

You jammy bastard.

One man’s win is another man’s loss. My hubby didn’t make it to the bookies to put his bet on. He would have put £5 on Amberleigh House. He also didn’t buy a lottery ticket and missed out on £10 - 3 of our numbers came up. If I’d bought the lottery ticket I would have had 4 numbers because 17 is one I always pick too. If I’d known Amberleigh House was no 17 I would have picked it too. Are you feeling sorry for me yet? Altogether a bad Saturday for us. But glad it worked out for someone! Well done you jammy …….

Yeah I heard £340 buys me a handshake ….

I have already put the money into paying off my car. Much to the disappointment of everyone on Saturday who were hoping I would blow it on booze.

I’m so pathetically responsible.
